My First Time

Hi everyone.

This is my first time. :D first time blogger, long time reader and critic, so please be gentle.

I am a 28 year old Business student who has worked in Production and Manufacturing facilities all his life. Been to church almost every Sunday of my life (except for a few months or in Brisbane. Just something about that city grates me the wrong way, Arrrr!). Yes I am a Christian. I have lived all over the place. Well mainly Queensland and Fiji. Now I live in a city (more like big town in today's standard) called Adelaide. It's hard getting used to the sun going down after 8pm at night but seeing the sunset calms me down.

I have tried my best to live by biblical principles and failed on many occasions. But I know God still loves me and supports me as I continue to live life and do what he says. Yes I do believe God speaks to me. I know you may have been told that "When you speak to God it's PRAYER, when God speaks to you it's Schizophrenia", well if that's true then you can call me Schizophrenic and I take my meds twice daily.

I am an Indian. Please don't hold that against me. I have noticed a lot of bias in Australia AGAINST Indians. I have no idea why or how but it may have to do with the fact that Indians seem to be taking over businesses and positions that are higher up the corporate ladder (I guess I'm not the TYPICAL Indian :D ). It's like the Indians have become the Jews of the modern era. They flourish wherever they go but are despised and accepted at once for the same reasons. We're a friendly people. We just have different ways of dealing with things. Please be patient with us.

I have been studying most of my adult life and trying to work out where my life will lead. Every year I try to find a job that helps me apply the things I have learnt during my studies but it seems like a lost cause so I have decided I'll try to start networking (Yes, after half a decade of studying I've started to network. Talk about a late bloomer :D). I only learnt this principle from a friend recently and she's coaching me (Actually she is threatening to kill me if I don't learn everything she says in the time she says, but I was trying to be polite) to be better at it. The University I went to that shall remain nameless (somewhere in Southern Queensland. Inland), never emphasised Networking for Business and being the naive, new to Australia, Lacking self esteem young man I I decided to only listen to the words of the experts speaking to us from the platform instead of finding every means possible to get recognised. I studied Human Resource Management so been trying to get in that field. If anyone knows anyone in a similar field let me know.

I love reggae music. It relaxes me but some of the songs also show me that sometimes the corporate culture we live in makes us complacent to the struggles of others. That's why after all these years I feel God is leading me away from the Corporate into the entrepreneurial and the consultative. To help people and Businesses compete in this world, make their product or service better and give the small guy a fighting chance to survive. Also I feel there's a need for ethical business. Not just doing things right by customers but also the suppliers, the employees, the investors, etc. Not using money to give bonuses when in tough times, not threatening suppliers to get a lower price, not giving customers shoddy (bad) products or services, Not paying CEO's a gazzilion dollars (I exaggerate) PLUS bonuses (I don't exaggerate)  for doing what they're supposed to do anyway.

If you've never listened to reggae, do it. I don't mean Sean Paul or Shaggy. They're more Dancehall. I mean pure reggae. Lucky Dube, Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, O'yaba, Luciano. Listen to the words. I am a Christian and most of these guys are Rastafarians (I'll explain some other time) but the words they sing are always good to listen to. I also like listening to the voices of social conscience. Singers like John Butler Trio (well actually they're the only one's I know other than the great Lucky Dube). :D They're the ones who sing songs that make you think. Not like some of the crap (pardon me) that we hear in the popular media.

In the love section, I am not so lucky. I do tend to rush things. I keep saying I slow people down because I am a relaxed personality but in this area I seem to either go full speed ahead or no speed at all. I have only had maybe 3 potential relationships in the past 10 years. All ended abruptly. Say something? But I hold hope that God has a woman prepared for me who's beautiful, a bit coy, a woman that get's so mad sometimes she could scream but when she's not she can speak in the softest of tones, ambitious, forgiving (cause there's a lot about me she'll have to forgive even at the beginning), compassionate, and loves God. I just hope I end up being the kind of guy a girl like that would love. I don't know if fatherhood is something I want or look forward to but if it happens it happens, if not then not. For the next few years at least, maybe not.

I was raised in an Anglican church but now go to a pentecostal church. Edge International is a big church with a big heart. Can't go wrong with that combination. Will be getting baptised there soon. It's basically when someone get's dunked in water. Nothing special in and of itself. It's just something we do to say I want to be part of the family of the church when we commit to a life with God. Like a welcome home ceremony with a twist. Sort of like the hazing you get as a new student in a Residential College or Fraternity House but much nicer, especially in the summer heat. :D

I just want use this to present observations and views. If you have an observation you want me to expand on then let me know and I'll look into it. I also am trying to get material for stand up comedy (a very old dream I at least want to give a shot) so if there are any ideas let me know. Hopefully I will entertain while making you think as well.

For now I'll sign off.
